About Richard Augustin
I have been working in tax for over 20 years. During that time, I have worked in all areas of tax law, including personal income taxes, wage taxes, international taxes, corporate income taxes and value added tax (VAT).
After completing my tax advisor exam in 2010, I started my professional career in multinational companies and gained valuable experience in international and expat tax.
But what I enjoyed most was getting in touch with people from all over the world with different backgrounds, languages and cultures, and working together to achieve our goals. All the people I met liked working in Germany and contributing to all kind of projects, but they were also afraid about one thing: the German income tax return.
That’s where I come in. I can take care of your taxes for you.
Based in Augsburg, Germany
My tax office is located in Augsburg. Augsburg has a history of over 2000 years and was founded as a Roman camp on the rivers Lech and Wertach. It is known for extraordinary architecture and the Fuggerei – the oldest social settlement in the world. It is also home to the AEV – a founding member of the German ice hockey league – and FC Augsburg in the first Bundesliga football league. I enjoy being in Augsburg, but I also like travelling the world with my family.

Career
After two years of intensive work, I passed the tax consultant exam. The written exam is prepared by the Chamber of Tax Advisors. The subsequent oral exam is taken by tax consultants. The tax advisor exam is one of the toughest exams in Germany and is a basic requirement for working as a tax advisor.
After completing the tax advisor examination, I started my career with multi-national group of companies. Here I got to know the complete range of tax issues in the corporate sector. I also came into contact with expats for the first time and quickly understood that almost everyone has problems with tax reporting and the understanding of the German tax jungle.
In 2019, I decided to specialize in the tax matters of expats and foreign companies in Germany and founded "Tax Services for Expats".
